Job posting: Weekend House Manager

SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals wants to hire a Weekend House Manager.

The Weekend House Manager is responsible for Admissions, Customer Service and Premises. He/She also managers volunteers working shifts and on projects around the House on the weekend. The Weekend House Manager interacts with staff, callers, visitors and patients. The ideal candidate must be a strong communicator, organized, comfortable using a computer. We require a self-motivated individual who is committed to prompt, professional and quality work, and is sensitive to patients and families dealing with medical crises.

This position is 26 hours per week:

5pm – 10pm on Fridays
9am – 10pm on Saturdays
9am – 5pm on Sundays

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage emergency situations as they emerge such as fire alarms, storm related outages, and incidents in which guests become ill
Answer the telephone and provide information about SECU Family House and the Admissions process and transfer calls to guest rooms
Greet and assist guests and potential guests, tour the facility
Manage patient referral process including data entry and confirmations
Manage room assignment process and make referrals to hotels when Family House is full
Direct Housekeeping staff and front desk volunteers
Record all donations of items received
Maintain list of needed repairs reported by guests or housekeepers
Light housekeeping and repairs such as (filling/emptying dishwashers, troubleshooting cable TV issues, and cleaning an empty guest room when housekeeping staff are off duty)
Check in guests and Check out guests
Program card keys, repair door locks if necessary
Uphold and enforce SECU Family House rules and policies
Assist in training of volunteers

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. BA/BS strongly preferred
Experience in human services, hospital routines and the needs of people in stressful situations would be helpful
Management and Customer Service experience
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Versatility to multi-task and prioritize
Proficient in Microsoft programs including Word
Good judgement and the ability to self-direct and work independently
Understanding of basic safety requirements and cautions
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English used in the workplace
Physical demands for this position include sitting, standing, bending, walking, lifting, climbing, and/or moving up to 10 lbs

SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals is a 40 room hospital hospitality house in Chapel Hill, NC. We provide an affordable, safe, nurturing home away from home for seriously ill patients being treated at UNC Hospitals, their family members and caregivers. This is a part time position, paid on an hourly basis, and employment does not include benefits. This position pays $12.50 per hour with an opportunity for review following six months of employment
