For years, Renee Miller wanted to volunteer, but her work with the Environmental Protection Agency kept her busy. Retirement finally gave her the opportunity to give back.

Having supported her daughter through chronic health issues, Renee understands the firsthand the uncertainty and challenges families face navigating healthcare. She knows how meaningful kindness and support can be during uncertain times.

When Renee first visited Family House to ask about volunteering, she immediately felt at home. “The environment of Family House spoke to me, with how friendly everyone was,” she says.

Today, Renee welcomes guests at the front desk, serves on the SECU Family House Events Committee, and has helped secure donations for our upcoming Gala. She also frequently works double shifts when other volunteers are away, ensuring someone is always available to assist guests.

Her favorite part of Family House is witnessing the generosity of the community, wether it’s donations arriving at our doors or meal teams providing dinner for families. For Renee, it is an uplifting reminder of how much good people can accomplish together.
