In 2016, Millie Taylor, a retired textile worker from Roanoke Rapids, NC, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Over the last ten years, she’s been a regular guest at SECU Family House while receiving treatments at UNC Hospitals. In 2024, Millie was diagnosed with breast cancer and has been undergoing weekly radiation treatments for that as well.
When asked about her time at Family House, Millie shared: “It is such a home environment. I’ve met and gotten to know so many people here. People care here. Everyone is so kind. It’s quiet and comforting.”
Supported by excellent care at UNC Health, her husband, Steve, of 51 years, a strong faith, and advanced treatments, Millie continues to take each step in her long medical journey with grace and gratitude. She says, “You’ve got to keep going and stay positive.” We couldn’t agree with her more.
