Guest Spotlight - Evelynn and Lori Flanigan

Recently we had the opportunity to chat with guests Evelynn Flanigan and her mother, Lori. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Evelynn was recuperating from surgery at UNC Hospitals. While Evelynn rested, we would oftentimes find Lori with that first cup of coffee in Pine. She had traveled all the way from St. Augustine, Florida, to be here for Evelynn.
Wanting to keep things light and as normal as possible, Evelynn and Lori thoroughly immersed themselves in the recent holiday. They participated in the many House activities and decorated their room with a small tree, several ornaments and lights.
Evelynn shared, “Family House has been a homebase for me. It’s safe, I can get my laundry done and there’s always food close by. The staff has been so understanding, allowing me to focus on getting better and heal. There are many things going on here like the therapy dogs. This is a positive place.”
Lori added “Had we been in a hotel, it would have been catastrophic for us. It’s nice to have other guests to speak with. It’s like home.”
We wish Evelynn all the very best and look forward to chatting with her and hopefully Lori on her future follow-up appointments.
