Guest Spotlight - Lindsay Hall
Two and a half years ago, recent guest, Lindsay Hall, was diagnosed with Stage 2B breast cancer after a routine visit with her gynecologist. Initially treated near her hometown of Sullivan, Illinois, Lindsay made the decision to receive further treatment in Chapel Hill because her surgeon in Illinois, Dr. Katherine Rodby, moved to the Triangle to take a similar position at UNC Hospitals.
After undergoing several rounds of chemotherapy in Illinois and getting things settled with her insurance company, Lindsay flew out to Chapel Hill to have Dr. Rodby perform reconstruction surgery on her breasts.
Asked what her stay has been like here, Lindsay shared, “You guys think of everything. I’ve enjoyed the meals, meeting other guests, and using the shuttle. The volunteers and staff are nice, and I feel safe here.”
Lindsay flew back to Illinois with her fiancé to return to her life and her childcare job after her post-op appointments with Dr. Rodby. She plans to return to Chapel Hill this fall for additional follow-up care. With a favorable prognosis and a five-year survival rate of 86%, we have every reason to believe that she, too, will be one of many success stories at UNC Hospitals.
