As Board President during the House’s major expansion, he provided visionary leadership through the planning, fundraising, design, and construction of the project that nearly doubled our capacity to serve families seeking care at UNC Hospitals. A respected physician leader at UNC Health, Dr. Ewend generously shared his expertise, advocacy, and personal philanthropy to advance the mission of Family House. His dedication helped ensure that thousands more patients and loved ones have access to affordable lodging and support during times of medical crisis, leaving a legacy for families across North Carolina.
