Lida Coleman

Lida Coleman has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina since 1979. From this date, she has been a highly respected business owner in Chapel Hill, NC. She was one of the two female cofounders of a local practice in the field of public accounting. She retired from the firm at the end of 2023. For a number of years, during a period of substantial growth, she was the managing partner in the firm of Coleman Huntoon & Brown, CPAs, PLLC. The firm grew from two CPAs, through several expansions, to approximately sixteen CPAs at the end of 2023, when Lida left the firm. Lida graduated with high honors from the University of North Carolina.

Lida has enjoyed a very successful career in the field of public accounting. The firm has been a general accounting practice which included a large income tax practice as well as tax and financial planning in addition to consulting in many areas including representation before the Internal Revenue Service in all states. Lida managed a large tax practice and developed skills in the audit area. She also successfully led several Peer Reviews of the firm.

Lida’s key and favorite specialty work ahs been focused on the form’s not for profit entities. This includes assisting in obtaining tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service and states along with advising clients on the interpretation and implementation of tax law in this complex area. At times, clients prepared their own Forms 990 for Lida to review. She also prepared Forms 990, financial statements, assisted with budgeting and forecasts.

Volunteering her time and professional skills to nonprofit organizations has always been very important to Lida. She has held positions of a number of Boards and committees as noted. It is her objective to assist in carrying out the mission of the organization where she volunteers.
